…we are home! It’s about a three and a half hour drive from my partner’s place to mine. We had a nice trip.
I’d rented my apartment for the last few months and I finally took possession again today. The changes have been… interesting?
I seem to have lost my butter dish, my wine slats (they lay flat on a shelf so I could keep wine there without them rolling off) and a teapot (the teapot was glass, and those who have glass teapots should not be upset when renters have broken them). I also seem to have gained some new water glasses, some coffee cups, some larger cups with rather disturbing photos of chimpanzees on them, and a bottle of gin.
I drove back today with most of the things I had taken to my partner’s place, mostly because I didn’t really leave anything, like clothes, that I needed here, and because I want to spend time going through things and not just pile things back on shelves. I want to have less, to sort, to give away, and to reduce.
So tomorrow is the start of a many days where I hope to go through things and get rid of as much as I can dare to part with, and to write. The writing is my last big project.
I also want to start going to bed much earlier. My partner tends to stay up late, and I’d like to take advantage of the morning more.
So, a little update. I made it to bed at 9:30pm but had a hard time getting to sleep. Finally did but woke up at 8:30am, which is a lot later than I wanted! I’ve found the butter dish. And the disturbing chimpanzee photo, in better light, is probably Gollum. There is another cup with a chimpanzee, though.
I don’t even know where to start, there is so much to do! But I have time, this sabbatical year’s most precious commodity.
