I have to fess up to something. Sometimes when I’m photographing Foro for the blog, it’s actually someone else. I now have three Foros. Actually, one original Foro (who is, of course, the cutest) but two that I call “Forina” and one that my partner calls “Loco”. If you count that, that’s actually four stuffed cows, but the last one is my partner’s, so I can’t count him as mine.
Partly it’s that I’m afraid of losing the original Foro so I want to have a stock of replacements (even though the original Foro is the cutest, and I’d be sad). Partly it’s that a Foro is perfect for holding my smartphone at just the right angle for my yoga app, and I also have yoga mat in every place I spend time. And lastly, it’s because it’s nice to have a cow in every port. I live at home, but I also rent a room with a friend in the town where I work, and go to see my partner every other weekend. I arrive, and there’s a little bit of cuteness, something to make me smile even when I’m tired, something to remind me not to take myself too seriously. I mean, how serious can I take myself when I write a blog about a stuffed cow?
It’s difficult, though, to keep up the illusion that I only have one Foro for the photos, because the real Foro has a sweater for winter. And Loco has a necklace. (It was a bracelet given at a party to show that we’d paid for drinks, but it fits Loco perfectly.)
So today, I have a photo of Loco for the blog. And some lyrics from Bill Withers, with one little change, because I listened to the song this morning at it’s a good sentiment to toss out into the world:
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
Foro can fill
Those of your needs that you won’t let show
You just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on…
For it won’t be long
Till I’m gonna need somebody to lean on
You just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
