Folks who Missed the Blue Bird

I’ve never been someone who believed I could have an original thought. I’m a re-hasher. I find things and talk about them, but I’m not the one who comes up with stuff. Okay, I have one original idea: if I had a superpower, it would be finding the correct lid for a Tupperware container. I’m really good at that. Original, certainly, life-shattering…not so much.

Maybe another original idea would be to bring back George Santayana from the dead and allow him to Tweet. Tweet only, no X-ing, or whatever it’s called now. He’d be part of the sweet, early part of the internet. Back when people could hear a joke and laugh at it, without spending an hour researching to find out whether it was made by someone socially acceptable.

But Santayana is superbly Tweet-able: “The one who does not remember history is bound to live through it again” “History is a pack of lies about events that never happened told by people who weren’t there” and “Fanaticism consists of redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim.”

I have friends who study philosophy but none of them ever talk about Santayana. I don’t know if he had any great works, but man, the guy was Tweet-able.

It’s kind of like Frank Zappa. He could have been a Tweet-er. “It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out the uglier everything seems.” “If you want to get laid, go to college. I will not go on, except to mourn the loss of the Blue Bird of Tweeting. It was nice while it lasted.

Only one question to ask about this; how is #StuffedWithLove not a sex thing?
