Ducks in a Line

I’ve just had the most lovely day not doing anything productive at all.

So I’ve been having all these articulation problems and for the second time, I’ve done my “articulation” day, which pretty much comes down to going for a bike ride then plunging in the lake at the end. The lake is about 15°C, so it’s perfect for cryotherapy without freezing my brain to the inside of my skull.

Just to say, I don’t usually bike. I don’t really prefer it as an activity, but it’s easier on my knees, ankles and feet, of which the latter have been giving me no end of trouble. Biking is a good way to do some cardiovascular activity without adding to my problems.

I didn’t really have any idea where to go for my ride. I had one more medical appointment in the endless rounds of medical appointments to try to figure something out to help with my feet. That was at ten a.m. down in the valley. So I stuffed my bike in the car and headed down to the appointment. For my ride, I finally decided to go visit this imposing factory which has been out of use for a few decades. It dominates the valley. It’s up in a cul-de-sac, so it’s not like you can just swing by on the way to somewhere else.

It was 550 meters of just going up, but a pleasant “up”. I wasn’t always in the smallest gear, and because it wasn’t so steep, the countryside fell away rather quickly. (I hate climbs where you’re racing the slugs, and the slugs are winning.) There’s a village up there, another half an hour of “up” after going past the out-of-use factory, so that can be my next ride.

I also went past the tiniest of bolted cliffs for climbing. I think it’s all really, really hard, so maybe never for me to go there, but the view is nice.

The out of use factory
The view from the factory

And then I jumped in the lake!

By the lake, this young woman had all her young in a nice, ordered line. Good for her.

Now it’s the end of the day and I just decided to write my weekly post from the balcony, while eating pistachios and having some quality time with Foro. Life’s good.
