The Quiet

Tonight it’s quiet in my little mountains, at least for now but I can see the storm clouds building up.

Yesterday, the clouds filled up with energy all day then blasted themselves everywhere in the early afternoon. Tonight they are filling up further east, and south. It’ll rain some, but not as much as yesterday. For the moment it’s calm, and I’m sitting on my balcony reading (reading for work, a story that we’re going to teach that I need to re-read and prepare activities for).

The calm is wonderful. With all the clouds, I was a bit sad at the thought of missing the Perseid meteor shower last night, but in fact I woke up around 2 am and the storm clouds had dissipated. I saw a shooting star from my bed, then stood on the balcony for a while to watch. I didn’t see tons of shooting stars, but there were a few. Far east of me, there were storm clouds and lighting, so altogether it was beautiful.

Today was spring cleaning, that has just taken me this much time to get to. I washed everything. I’ve been needing to do that for a while; attack the dust bunnies, wash the woolen blankets, and even Foro got a bath. Now I’m just watching the clouds gather, in the quiet of the evening.
