The Darkness

This is the hardest time of year for me, for a lot of people. It’s possible to have good weather sometimes, like today, but the tendency where I live is for grey, cold, and wet. I leave for work in the dark and get home in the dark.

So I have my techniques for dealing with it. I stop drinking any alcohol, start making sleep a priority, and try to eat healthily. I try not to fill up my agenda too much with social things (although social things are often good for me, so I try to keep them included, but maybe not accept every invitation or fill up every free day with seeing someone).

Today, though, was lovely. Often this time of year it’s colder in the valleys than the mountains, but today the lakeside was a degree or two warmer and I decided to take a walk. I found a nice bench, drank some tea, and just enjoyed the view. I could have stayed there all day.
