Fleur de Pierre

That was the name of the pretty little climb we did on the Petit Dent de Morcles. On paper, it should have been harder than it was, but maybe it’s the effect of thinking something will be difficult and overestimating it?

That’s a thing, I guess. If you think something will be easy and it’s kinda normal, then it feels hard. If you think something should be difficult and it’s kinda normal, then it feels easy.

I was told a story about a philosopher, George Berkeley. I was told that he wrote that if you put one hand is in cold water and the the other in hot, then put them both into the same bowl of lukewarm water, the hand that was in hot water will find the lukewarm water cool, and the the hand that was in cold water will find the lukewarm warm. Somehow he got from there to saying that this was proof that God existed.

So I started thinking that the climb would be hard, and it was quite okay. Therefore the climb exists.

The fun thing is that I can see it from my apartment, the whole approach and climb. I love that. I had Foro looking out through the window, so he kept an eye on the whole thing.
