Feeling a bit Van Trapp

I went on my annual hike with my friend, and we went from Switzerland into Austria, and back out again. I was filled with music every day when I woke up, but the songs that mostly stuck in my head were from The Sound of Music. There were no edelweiss, though, being that the whole area where we walked was full of granite, too acidic for edelweiss. The other song in my head was the Marseillaise, being that we hiked over July 14th.

We didn’t see very many people until the last day, when I think we were on a more popular day hike up to a lake. Someone there jumped in, and not wanting to feel like a wuss, I jumped in too. Cold isn’t the half of it!

Foro came along, but I was often too tired to take him out for summit photos. I have a meniscus problem in one knee and a bone spur on the other foot, and some days I was in a fair amount of pain by the end of the day. It was too beautiful to miss out on though!

The first day we just missed heavy rain
Lakes, lakes and more lakes
Frogs!
The hills are alive….
Foro enjoying the view on the last night
