WordPress has a feature that means you can see where people are looking at your blog. I don’t know if it makes much of a distinction between a VPN and the real location of a person, but I have been getting a “lot” of views from China. (I don’t have a lot of followers, but I understand that maybe an optimistic blog featuring a cute, stuffed cow, might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I know how idiotic it is, and yet I just can’t stop. I need to focus on the positive, and I need a prop to help me do it.)
I do hope it’s real people in China, and that they are getting more than English practice out of it (if they aren’t using an automatic translator, which who know what that would give.) I hope they are getting a dose of positivity, because that would be nice to share.
In any case, I make lists. Normally they are a mix of “clean the bathroom” and “call sister” with some work things thrown in. Today I have a list of about 10 things, all of which will take more than an hour each, and it’s just for work. And I still need to clean the bathroom.
However, I’d like to add one general list for the week to share with whoever tumbles across Forolavache in these Corona times:
- Smile under the mask. People can’t see it, but they can feel it, and it’s good for you.
- Say one kind thing to someone a day, or when you see someone you are happy to see, tell them that.
- Ask at least one person how they are doing a day, and really listen to the response. Interact with them without judgement, and just let them know you’ve listened to them.
- If you do have the occasion to eat with someone, serve them before you eat yourself, and share what you have if you’ve each brought something to work. You can even think about this ahead of time and make extras to share.
There’s more, but this is the list for this week.
Oh, and one last thing, find your “Foro” (or whatever trick you use to remind yourself to be softer) and hug him.
